WEB EXCLUSIVE: A new joint venture will market and manufacture structural-foam polyethylene sheets suitable for applications in recreational-vehicle panels; shipping containers; concrete forms (already commercial); marine decking, storage bins, and hatches; and playground equipment. These VarioLine sheets have a closed-cell foam core and solid, non-porous surface and come in sizes up to 8 x 4.5 ft and thicknesses from 0.250 to 0.875 in. VarioLine technology comes from PolymerPark materials GmbH in Germany. VarioLine Systems is a joint venture of PolymerPark and Inspirion Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nova Chemicals Inc. VarioLine Systems is located at Nova’s headquarters in Moon Township, Pa. The new venture uses Nova’s PE materials and PolymerPark technology to produce a current range of three VarioLine products: Standard Strength, Ultra Strength (reinforced with long glass fibers for extra stiffness), and High Impact (tough even at low temperatures, suited to playground equipment).
