Two high-specific-gravity filled TPE grades are new from Elastocon TPE Technologies, Inc., Rochester, Ill. These new, easily colorable additions to the 8055 Series of general-purpose TPEs have densities of 1.6 and 1.89 g/cc and Shore A hardness of 55 and 65, respectively. They offer relatively low cost (starting at less than $2/lb), as well as scratch and mar resistance and x-ray opacity for medical devices. Other potential uses are traffic cones, fishing weights and lures, straps, sports/leisure products, and garbage-disposal drain plugs.
