One of the newest additions to the Kraton A family of  high-performance styrenic block copolymers (HSBC) from Kraton Performance Polymers, Inc., Houston, Texas, has several potential applications, including soft-touch overmolding for products such as cell-phone protectors and power-tool grips, as well as protective cling films and sound-dampening materials.

The new hydrogenated MD6951 SBC reportedly maintains the reliability and hallmark of the Kraton A family, such as softness, ease-of-use and compatibility. Its increased polarity makes it compatible with plastics such as PS, TPU and PPO. The FDA-compliant material boasts exceptional elasticity and is said to make resultant products more durable, resilient, and “comfortable”, adding value for product designers, while expanding process application techniques.
