WEB EXCLUSIVE: A new liquid injection moldable fluorosilicone rubber is formulated for o-rings, gaskets, seals, and precision parts in the automotive, aerospace, sensor, and oil industries. It reportedly resists aviation fuels such as JP-8, chemicals, and solvents much better than standard liquid silicone rubber (LSR), as shown in the photo. It is also has lower moisture permeability. Translucent FS-3511 from NuSil Technology LLC, Carpinteria, Calif., is said to cure rapidly with minimal shrinkage. It provides good vibration damping and shock absorption. The two-part formulation is designed for a 1:1 mix ratio. Properties include 42 Shore A durometer, 240% elongation, tear strength of 40 ppi, and tensile strength of 850 psi. It can be used at up to 275 C/527 F.
