WEB EXCLUSIVE: Several new grades of clear SEBS-based TPEs from Elastocon TPE Technologies, Rochester, Ill., are designed for medical products such as grips for medical and dental utensils and knobs and buttons for medical equipment. The expanded CLR series includes a broader range of hardnesses—from 15 Shore A to 75 Shore A, with low-oil formulations and two completely oil-free grades, CLR65 and CLR75. The latter two have Shore A hardnesses of 62 and 75, respectively; tensile strengths of 1254 psi and 1450 psi, 100% moduli of 323 psi and 607 psi; and elongations of 629% and 499%. These grades are said to be odorless with a non-tacky feel, and they can be extruded or injection molded and can be easily color tinted. The company also cites exceptional tear resistance, high resilience, and high strength.
