WEB EXCLUSIVE: Two new engineered PC sheet products specially designed for signage were recently unveiled by Bayer MaterialScience, LLC, Pittsburgh:
•Makrolon LD PC sheet is an enhanced UV-resistant product that meets the UL 879 standard for use in electric signs (photo). It is said to deliver uniform light diffusion and eliminate hot spots in today’s LED signage, including channel letters. Its exceptional light diffusion reportedly reduces shadowing, even at smaller LED-diffuser sheet distances, making it possible to design shallow-channel letters and sign faces.
•Makrolon SL PC sheet is an enhanced UV-resistant product with exceptional weatherability and superior impact strength. Avaialble in a variety of sheet and reel sizes, it also meets UL 879. Applications include flat and formed sign faces. Bayer also has introduced a matte-finish grade of Makrolon SL for non-glare signage.
