WEB EXCLUSIVE: SABIC Innovative Plastics, Pittsfield, Mass., has filled out its portfolio of Flexible Noryl PPE alloys for wire and cable with two new grades that meet Europe’s HD 21.14 S1:2003 standard for AC cords. These supplement existing grades that meet U.S. and Japanese standards for AC and DC cables. Those include UL 758 for appliance wiring and UL 62 for flexible cords and cables, as well as JIS C8303 for AC cords in Japan.
The two new extrusion grades are Flexible Noryl WCD883 (88 Shore A) for flexible AC cord and cable jacketing, and WCD933 (93 A) for insulation. They bring the full Flexible Noryl line to a total of 18 grades. All grades meet UL VW-1 vertical wire flame test without use of halogens or heavy metals. Flexible Noryl can be processed on standard PVC extrusion lines.
