WEB EXCLUSIVE: BASF Corp., Wyandotte, Mich., has two new Elastollan TPU compounds. Low-smoke, halogen-free, flame retardant Elastollan 1185A10HFFR is designed for high-performance wire and cable. This polyether-based compound is said to exhibit excellent abrasion resistance and toughness, very good low-temperature flexibility, hydrolytic stability, and fungus resistance.
High-temperature Elastollan 785A10HPM is designed for continuous use at 150 C in automotive and wire and cable. It reportedly provides improved compression set, excellent surface reproducibility, and resistance to chemicals and fuels. It is also touted for its range of velvety to leather-like feel. It comes in several hardnesses.
