WEB EXCLUSIVE: New Amodel Electronic (AE) grades of polyphthalamide (high-heat polyamide) from Solvay Advanced Polymers, LLC are said to eliminate corrosion issues in conditions of high heat and humidity for automotive sensors, connectors, electric motors, electronic control housings, bobbins, solenoids, and other electronic devices. The new line includes AE-4133, a high-flow, fast-cycling grade with 33% glass for injection molding, which has the highest HDT (300 C/572 F @ 264 psi) in the Amodel PPA line, suiting it to surface-mount technology and laser welding. Another new grade is AE 8133, which offers the highest retention of dielectric properties in the Amodel line. In addition, Solvay introduced a developmental grade, Amodel PXM-1129, a partially biobased material with up to 5% lower density and 66% lower moisture absorption than comparable glass-reinforced Amodel grades.
