WEB EXCLUSIVE: A new static-dissipative ABS for fused deposition modeling (FDM) is available from Stratasys, Inc., Eden Prairie, Minn. ABS-ESD7 can be used to make jigs and fixtures for assembly of electronic assemblies, as well as functional prototypes for electronic enclosures and packaging or for automotive fuel storage and delivery systems. The material produces parts with notched Izod impact strength of 2.1 ft-lb/in. and HDT of 180 F at 264 psi/204 F at 66 psi. Volume resistivity is 4 x 10E10 to 3 x 10E9 ohm-cm; surface resistivity is 10E9 to 10E6 ohm/sq. The material can be used in the company’s Fortus 400mc and 900mc FDM systems.
