A new six-axis "mini" robot designed for parts handling, machine tending, and assembly is new from Fanuc Robotics America Inc., Rochester Hills, Mich. The new LR Mate 200iC robot has a payload capacity of 11 lb. It can be positioned on the fl oor, on a tabletop or molding machine, and at angled or inverted positions. Standard features include a reach of 27.73 in. and horizontal stroke of 18 in. Fanuc says it is 152% faster than the previous LR Mate 200 iB model and 50% more accurate in positioning repeatability-down to ±0.02 mm. The model also features Fanuc's Light, Effi cient, Accurate and Nimble (LEAN) design, which includes a slim arm that can reach into narrow spaces. The wrist is about 50% smaller than on the previous model. Another standard feature is iRVision, Fanuc's ready-to-use vision system, which is built into the unit (it requires only the addition of a camera and cable). The vision system has a 2D robot guidance tool to accomplish part location, error-proofi ng, and other operations that typically require special sensors or custom fi xtures.
