A new spray-on mold release for flexible urethane foam reportedly cuts mold-maintenance costs in production of sound-absorbing panels for car and truck interiors. It has also been effective with self-skinning foams for seating and head and arm rests. Developed by Huron Technologies, Inc., Leslie, Mich., Mold Release Coating 7305 reportedly causes significantly less mold build-up due to its unusual two-component formulation. It contains a liquid synthetic lubricant combined with a wax, while conventional products are typically a blend of waxes.
