A new mold-release coating is said to achieve superior results in molding low-gloss urethane automotive parts like steering wheels, armrests, and other interior components. Release Coating 7644 from Huron Technologies, Inc., Leslie, Mich., has undergone extensive lab and plant testing. Results include excellent part-surface uniformity, including in-mold painted surfaces; low-gloss control, targeted at 1.8 to 2.4 but adjustable even lower; and preservation of the full richness of paint color. Improved scuff and mar resistance, lower build-up on mold surfaces, and good adhesion to leather are also claimed. (517) 589-0300 • www.hurontech.com
