The accompanying table provides data on the properties of two new PCTFE fluoropolymers designed to provide high moisture barrier to multi-layer pharmaceutical and chemical bottles and monolayer tubing. As first reported last month, new Aclon resins were introduced by Honeywell Specialty Films, Morristown, N.J. Honeywell has made PCTFE for its own Aclar barrier film, but it is now offering it for sale to other processors for non-competing uses. Two grades are available, a homopolymer and a copolymer with vinylidene fluoride that has higher flexibility (for tubing uses) as well as better chemical barrier, though the homopolymer has greater moisture barrier.
