A new family of 14 light-stabilized colorants is available in multiple forms and resins for a wide range of interior and exterior building products. These colorants will be highlighted at NPE in Chicago in June by Teknor Color Co., Pawtucket, R.I. Teknor has recreated the hues of earth, wood, and stone in its new TEKpro Construction colorants. Each color can be formulated for HDPE, PP, mineral-filled PP, and rigid or flexible PVC applications such as cove basing, shutters, doors, roofing membranes, flooring, decking, fences, and railings. Colors are available as dry colors, standard pellet and bead concentrates, and powder and mini-bead concentrates. The latter are the first introduction of TEKpro Color Sphere mini-beads, aimed initially at rigid and flexible PVC. They boast higher pigment loadings and more uniform blending and color distribution than typical cube concentrates for PVC. The new beads are also said to be more cost-effective than powder concentrates because they don't require the extra step of cryogenic grinding.
