WEB EXCLUSIVE Recently developed engineering compounds based on nano-additives will be highlighted at the NPE show in Chicago by Techmer Lehvoss Compounds (TLC), Clinton, Tenn., a joint venture of Techmer PM and Lehmann & Voss Co. of Germany. At NPE, TLC will highlight some materials announced by Lehmann & Voss at the K 2007 show in Germany. Among these is a lubricated PEEK compound containing carbon fiber, graphite powder, and proprietary nano-additives. This Luvocom 1105-7373 material reportedly shows dramatically lower friction and wear than a standard tribological compound of PEEK with 10% carbon fiber and 10% PTFE. This effect is especially noticeable as the test temperature increases from 302 to 482 F. Avoiding PTFE reportedly improves processing and mechanical strength. Luvocom nano-lubricated compounds are also available in PPS and nylon. TLC will also show PEEK compounds containing carbon nanotubes, which are said to confer superior electrical conductivity at low loadings. (800) 788-6703 * www.techmerpm.com
