Penn Fibre, Div. of Ensinger, Bensalem, Pa., has introduced a line of thermoformable acetal copolymer sheets based on Celcon TF resins from Ticona LLC, Florence, Ky. The copolymer reportedly has even better resistance to heat, humidity, and alkali exposure than acetal homopolymer. Penn Fibre introduced sheet based on DuPont’s Delrin acetal homopolymer in 2003. Acetal copolymer sheet has good chemical resistance for use in automotive fuel tanks and reservoirs. It comes in widths up to 50 in and thicknesses from 0.10 to 0.25 in. An antimicrobial grade called Tecaform AH SAN contains Alpha-San antimicrobial from Milliken. It provides steam sterilizability for use in medical, food handling, and food processing applications. Antimicrobial sheets made of PPS and polyester will be rolled out later.
