WEB EXCLUSIVE: Static electricity is a major challenge for users of inhalation devices, as tiny drug particles can build up a static charge, causing them to adhere to the device instead of being dispensed to the patient. Older inhalers used antstatic coatings to combat this problem, but three new LNP Stat-Loy compounds from SABIC Innovative Plastics, Pittsfield, Mass., have permanent antistatic properties of their own. The three new transparent grades are based on ABS, acrylic (PMMA), and SABIC’s Xylex PC/polyester alloy. These grades have been assessed for biocompatibility according to ISO 10993.
