A new styrene-butadiene block copolymer film grade from BASF Corp., Styrenic Plastics, Florham Park, N.J., delivers greater shrinkage for use in printed sleeve labels. Shown at K 2007, Styrolux HS 70 has a shrink ratio of 70% to 80% over a temperature range of 176 to 203 F, an improvement of more than 50% from previous products. The new SBC has a shrink ratio comparable to PETG, the industry standard. It is also more transparent and stiffer than its predecessors. Due to its lower density, film yield (area/lb) is about 30% higher than for PVC or PETG. It is also well suited to machine-direction orientation. (800) BC-RESIN . www.plasticsportal.com
