Two new hot-runner nozzle series designed for medium-sized parts expand the Kona XP line from Synventive Molding Solutions, Peabody, Mass. T16 and SR16 nozzles handle shot weights from 850 to 1250 g per nozzle. The T16 has a threaded design for screwing into the hot-runner manifold, while the SR16 uses a support ring for clamping onto the manifold surface. They both have built-in heat pipes to provide temperature uniformity with only one heat zone and also have replaceable heaters and thermocouples. Longer nozzles can have a spare heater and thermocouple that can be turned on with a switch if the first set fails. The nozzles have a 16-mm internal bore, and come in lengths from 75 to 375 mm. Eight tip styles and valve-gate versions are available.
