New IBC Boosts Output Even More

A new IBC from Reifenhauser Inc., Ipswich, Mass., is said to increase blown film output by 5% to 10% more than other IBCs.

A new IBC from Reifenhauser Inc., Ipswich, Mass., is said to increase blown film output by 5% to 10% more than other IBCs. It is reportedly the only system with a single large (60-mm) air-intake pipe and exhaust pipe instead of multiple smaller (10-mm) pipes. In the new unit, pipes pass through the middle of the die and therefore aren’t insulated. Typical IBC intake and exhaust pipes require insulation because they pass closer to the hot die surfaces. The new high-efficiency IBC can be used on dies of at least 160 mm diam. It will be discussed for the first time by Reifenhauser in a presentation of its new blown film developments at Plastics Technology’s “Advances in Blown Film” conference in Miami, Dec. 7-8, sponsored by Polymer Process Communications, Gillette, N.J.
