A new line of antistatic polycarbonates with halogen-free flame resistance is available from GE Plastics, LNP Products, Exton, Pa. Its Stat-Loy D series is used to mold the shell of the latest “ultra-density” optical storage media from Plasmon in the U.K. (photo). Surface resistivity is between 1011 and 1012 ohm/sq. The compounds are also aimed at hard-disk drives and air ducts.
