An injection machine designed specifically for caps and closures is new from Ferromatik Milacron Europe NA, Batavia, Ohio. Its new Cap-Tec 300 model is based on the fully hydraulic Ferromatik 330-ton K-Tec machine but is modified with a shorter clamp and injection stroke and a shorter machine base. Dry cycle is said to be 1.1 sec. The moving platen travels on linear bearings instead of the tiebars. An accumulator builds clamp force. The press comes with Milacron's new Mosaic control. This model can handle a 64-cavity closure tool, but Cap-Tec presses in 220- and 440-ton versions are in development.
