A new domestic manufacturer of specialty additive concentrates is initially offering chemical blowing agents and peroxide flow modifiers. A branch of Rowa Group in Germany, Rowa Group USA, LLC in Delran, N.J., was established last year to market the full line of Tramaco brand specialty additive concentrates. With its new production facility, the company now offers endothermic foaming agents for polyolefins that reportedly produce a finer cell structure than competitive products. Also offered are endo/exothermic blends for rigid PVC profiles, pipe, and boardstock (including wood/PVC composites), as well as grades for nucleation and foaming of general-purpose PS. The company also produces peroxide concentrates for enhancing melt flow of polypropylene. The company also plans to produce other specialty concentrates, including high loadings (40%) of glycerol monostearate (GMS) as cell stabilizers for PE foams. These concentrates are said to be suitable for use in both single- and twin-screw extruders, unlike typical competitive products with only 20% GMS loadings.
