Hostalen 4731B HDPE is the latest trimodal HDPE from LyondellBasell in the Netherlands. It offers an unusual combination of high heat resistance without crosslinking (up to 158 F), hydrostatic pressure of up to 10 bar, and excellent longterm dimensional stability. It meets ISO standard 24033, the global standard for hot-water pressure pipes—except in North America, where this resin is not currently sold. LyondellBasell (U.S. office in Wilmington, Del.) makes multimodal HDPE with Ziegler-type catalysts in its Hostalen Advanced Cascade Process, using up to three slurry reactors in series and adding different comonomers at different stages to create an interconnected material. This allows unusual property combinations like high ESCR with high stiffness, whereas conventional HDPE resins gain stiffness at the expense of brittleness. +31 (10) 275-5500 • www.lyondellbasell.com
