A new device is said to be the first that can network a static neutralizer with extrusion line process controls. Ion Industrial, div. of Ion Systems Inc. in Windsor Locks, Conn., recently introduced the 8003-Fieldbus controller for its Intelligent Static Neutralizers. The controller links data from static neutralizers using common industrial protocols such as Profibus, Modbus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Ethernet IP. The device transmits ion output, neutralizing current, and diagnostics—data that indicate, for example, when the neutralizer bar needs cleaning.
