PBT resins modified with a new ethylene-acrylate copolymer boast much higher impact while retaining more of their original stiffness, strength, HDT, and flowability. The new toughener, Elvaloy PT862, from DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers, Wilmington, Del., reportedly produces PBT compounds with high elongation and better flow than ones prepared with the usual tougheners. Target applications include thin-walled electrical connectors.
