For higher outputs of wood composites, Cincinnati Extrusion Inc., Erlanger, Ky., is offering new parallel twin-screw extruders as larger alternatives to its conical twins for these applications. The six sizes of conicals for wood range from 58 to 92 mm diam. at the small end. The new FiberexT parallel twins range in size up to 135-mm diam. with 35:1 L/D and dual vents, which puts out up to 2750 lb/hr of wood-plastic profiles at speeds up to 5 meters/min. The new twins have new screw geometries to compound up to 85% wood flour.
