A new polycarbonate film offers increased surface conductivity, which suppresses electrostatic charges during storage and forming. Makrofol TP 230 from Bayer Films Americas, div. of Sheffield Plastics, Berlin, Conn., reduces surface resistivity from approximately 1015 ohm/sq—typical for PC film—to between 1010 and 1011 ohm/sq. This reduces attraction of dust, which can become visible in backlit dials, panels, or displays. Transparent or textured versions are available in reel or sheet stock in standard thicknesses between 175 and 500 microns.
