A new grade of polycarbonate sheet is designed to increase the visibility and appearance of illuminated signage. Lexan SG305-OB from GE Plastics, Pittsfi eld, Mass., reportedly offers both uniform light diffusion to eliminate LED "pinholes" and better light transmission for exceptional brightness. Previously, sign makers were forced to choose between optimal diffusion and optimal brightness, according to GE. In 2- and 5-mm thicknesses, the white sheet is boasts more than 50% light transmission, while competitive materials like PMMA allow about 25% transmission, GE says. The sheet has a matte fi nish on one surface to reduce refl ection. Tel: (413) 448-5700 . www.geplastics.com
