A new strand pelletizer designed for clean, fast product changes was introduced this summer by Reduction Engineering Inc., Kent, Ohio. This is the company's first original pelletizer design since it bought Conair's pelletizer line in May. (Reduction previously built pelletizers for Conair.) The Reduction 800 Series has a grounding strap to dissipate static electricity that could cause fines and pellets to cling to the cutting chamber. A rounded instead of square sound-damping hood leaves no corners to catch and hold pellets. A sliding tray under the chamber makes it easy to remove pellets that drop out of the chamber. A new straight, vertical discharge chute fits any brand of pellet classifier-reportedly a first-and lowers machine height as much as 18 in.
