Plastic stacker hinges are an industry first and are a more cost-effective option than metal for use in upstacking systems for in-line thermoformers. That's the word from thermoforming moldmaker J&R Plastics Inc., Acushnet, Mass. Its new acetal stacker hinges (patent pending) reportedly cost one-third as much as typical metal hinges. The hinges are corrosion resistant and have no springs. In case of a misalignment or crash, the flipper component within the hinge can be replaced easily without dismantling the entire stacker magazine.
