At last year’s K 2004 show in Dusseldorf, two Austrian firms, Cincinnati Extrusion and Gruber & Co., introduced palletized, prewired, turnkey Combiline extrusion systems for PVC window profiles. They were designed to make entry easier for newcomers in the field. Since then, over two dozen Combilines have been sold, but not just to beginners. Many customers chose the modular downstream equipment to permit rapid product changes. The whole system is unitized with pre-adjusted height and center lines. A new die-change mechanism permits changes in minutes by removing only a round core while the die housing stays on the machine. The core releases with a few bolts and is pushed out by the resin. Profile templates slide in and out of the cooling tanks to complete the changeover. Cincinnati Extrusion has a U.S. office in Erlanger, Ky., and Gruber North America (formerly Exproma) is in Newtown, Pa.
