WEB EXCLUSIVE New positive-pressure test systems for medical-device packaging is designed to measure the strength of the package’s seals and material. The Lippke 4000 series from Mocon, Inc., Minneapolis, can perform a variety of leak and seal strength tests on flexible, rigid and porous materials. Model 4000 is standalone and Model 4500 is a PC-operated benchtop unit. These instruments are said to provide accurate and reproducible test results consistent with ASTM F2054, F1140, and F2095 as well as ISO 11607. Whereas typical instruments are configured to perform only one pressure level, these units conduct tests at three different pressure levels. The Lippke 4000 series includes flow booster technology as a standard feature to ensure that the required volume of gas necessary to perform a test is available. Also standard are electronic pressure and flow controls, which provide greater precision and accuracy in performing leak and burst tests. Also available are custom package fixtures, eight test-mode capability, and the Advanced Leak Test option, which provides absolute hole-size measurement. (763) 493-6370 * www.mocon.com
