A new line of injection presses designed to handle biodegradable resins by imparting less shear, and a new material compounding service to provide a range of thermoplastics enhanced with carbon nanotubes (see p. 31), were announced at the April Chinaplas show in Shanghai by Nissei Plastic Industrial Co. Ltd., of Japan (Nissei America Inc. is in Anaheim, Calif.). Nissei is developing a line of presses with a special screw design for biodegradable materials. Based on Nissei’s compact NS hydraulic-clamp line, the new series will range from about 44 to 440 tons. Nissei also announced that it is constructing a machine-building plant in Shanghai, with groundbreaking to begin later this year. It will make the ANX series there, starting with an initial production of about 180 machines for the Chinese market. (714) 693-3000 • www.nisseiamerica.com
