Prewired hot-runner manifolds that free molders and moldmakers from having to assemble the nozzles or do all the wiring are now offered by Hasco America Inc., Arden, N.C. The new systems use Hasco standard or custom manifold designs with up to eight drops. The moldmaker machines only the supporting plates. An especially convenient feature, Hasco claims, is the ability to position the nozzles with “cold” dimensions, since the Hasco design compensates for thermal expansion of the manifold to ensure that no stresses are imparted to the nozzles. The result is said to be longer life of nozzles and seals. This approach is claimed to work even in “extreme” situations—i.e., very short nozzles with long center-to-center distances.
