Incorporating a new woven fabric of PTFE into composite laminates is said to provide an effective barrier against flame and smoke generation.

Incorporating a new woven fabric of PTFE into composite laminates is said to provide an effective barrier against flame and smoke generation. Web 100-40G from Daikin America, Orangeburg, N.Y., is believed to be the only product of its type. On its own, it is rated UL 94V-0, and composites made with it reportedly can easily pass E162, E662, and BSS 7239 flame tests. Also noteworthy is that the PTFE fabric has no negative effect on composite physical properties, Daikin claims.
