A redesigned general-purpose melt-pressure transmitter for extrusion has auto-zero functionality that is said to make the instrument faster and easier to install than older models. The model PT4624-A sensor from Dynisco LLC, Franklin, Mass., is rated at ±0.5% accuracy. It has been updated so that the zero and span “pots” are replaced with an auto-zero pushbutton. The unit comes precalibrated, so that there is no need to set the span of the sensor when it is first installed. Instead, the user just pushes the auto-zero button—that’s all.
