Available in two rotor dimensions, 39 and 56 in., new CPS Series pipe shredders from Cumberland Engineering Corp., S. Attleboro, Mass., have low-speed rotary cutters Low-speed cutters (28 or 43 rpm) reduce noise in cutting thick pipe. Dual drives provide even distribution of power along the rotor.
The CPS shredder reduces material to approximately 1- to 4-in. pieces, which can be further reduced with a Cumberland granulator. The two units can be stacked or arranged in-line with conveyors. Two-stage cutting reportedly can allow the granulator to average 150% of its rated throughput without heavy power consumption.
