Rigid Ultrasonic Welder Targets Demanding Uses

A new 20-kHz, pneumatically actuated ultrasonic welder is designed to provide increased rigidity for better welding precision.

A new 20-kHz, pneumatically actuated ultrasonic welder is designed to provide increased rigidity for better welding precision. Typical applications include larger parts and hard-to-weld materials such as glass-filled nylon, PP, and PE. Model 2055 from Sonics & Materials Inc., Newtown, Conn., incorporates a new base casting with integrated hub, thicker columns, and a deeper throat to take larger tooling. The unit has an in-line 2.5-in. bore and 4-in. stroke (6-in. optional). Quick-release column clamps and a head with handwheel adjustment and spring counterbalance help streamline tooling set-ups.
