A new robotic routing, trimming, and knife deflashing system handles increased heights on thermoformed parts. The RoboTrim RT-500 from Robotic Production Technology, Auburn Hills, Mich., will be shown at NPE this month in Chicago. It has an articulated-arm robot and a servo-controlled rotating table. It can trim parts 60 x 60 in. x 36 in. high. Longer parts up to 80 x 36 in. with lower heights can also be processed. The RT-500 has three sides of access to the fixture and servo table, since two workers are typically needed to move the parts. The RT-500 can utilize a choice of robots, one that takes spindles with up to 3 hp and one for spindles up to 15 hp. Both have optional 6-sec automatic tool-change capability, which will be demonstrated at NPE.
