Servo-electric robots designed for fast removal of parts from two-plate and stack molds are new from Wittmann Inc., Torrington, Conn. Its W 711 C DS robot is based on the W 711 series, which has a fixed kick stroke. Unlike the standard models, the C DS units have a second, independent vertical servo arm. The arms’ horizontal strokes are 1500 or 2000 mm and vertical strokes are 800 or 1000 mm. The robots are suited to presses up to 250 tons and carry up to 11 lb per arm. To minimize mold opening distance, both arms have a compact, self-locking swivel axis, as on standard W 711 robots. Compact servo modules on the robot itself eliminate the need for a floor-mounted control cabinet. The integrated control cabinet is mounted behind the horizontal axis to save space. It allows connection of external I/O modules through a bus cable.
