A new rotary trimmer for various shapes and sizes of handled bottles is claimed to offer high throughput, quick changeover, and cost and space savings. The Uniloy Rotary Trimmer from Uniloy Milacron, Manchester, Mich., deflashes up to 160 bottles/min, twice the rate of current indexing trimmers.

Simplified changeover requires just two locking bolts per station for the trim plate and tooling. Variable speed allows adjustment of the trimmer’s output to match that of the blow molder. High-speed mode enables one trimmer to handle production from two or more blow molders. The machine feeds and trims bottles in the vertical position, unlike conventional impact trimmers that feed and process bottles horizontally. This eliminates the uprighting mechanism for feeding bottles onto filling lines. The trimmer (four or eight stations) processes bottles up to 10 liters with 22- to 120-mm neck diam.
