Three varietals of French wine from Boisset Family Estates are the first in the U.S. that are packaged in PET bottles using MonOxbar Plus oxygen scavenger from Constar International Inc., Philadelphia. MonOxbar Plus is blended into the PET to make monolayer bottles. The 750-cc bottles are made in France by Manypack using preforms from Constar’s plant in Sherburn, U.K. These are the first French wines in PET bottles sold in the U.S. with the AOC (appellation d’origine controllee) designation. In 2007, the first 750-cc PET wine bottle molded and filled in North America was for a Boisset wine shipped from France. The bottles were made in Canada and also contained MonOxbar.
