Five novel silicone surfactants that boast enhanced performance with flexible and molded PUR foams are available from Dow Corning Corp., Midland, Mich. These new non-hydrolyzable silicone surfactants are said to be based on proven technology that was originally developed for use in Japan. For flexible slabstock, new SZ-1175 and SZ-1180 are specially formulated to reduce the need for a flame retardant and for good compatibility with polyols. For high-resiliency molded foam, SZ-1325E, SZ-1328E, and SZ-1346E reportedly offer a balance of stability and inner cell regularity plus breathability and air fl ow.
