A new stereolithography (SL) resin is said to produce ultra-durable models and prototypes that are “as clear as glass” according to the CIELAB color-scale system. RenShape SL 7870 is the latest addition to a family of new-generation epoxy/acrylate hybrid photopolymers from Huntsman Advanced Materials, Houston. It is recommended for production of long-lasting parts with a smooth surface finish and precise replication of intricate detail. It is also suitable for investment casting patterns. Along with PC-like clarity, SL 7870 boasts notched Izod impact strength of up to 1.15 ft-lb/in., much tougher than other clear SL resins. It also has a flexural modulus of 286 to 333 ksi and 10% to 22% elongation. In field tests, parts made with SL 7870 maintained long-term dimensional stability on exposure to warm/humid conditions (40 C/90% RH). SL 7870 conforms to FDA USP 23 Class VI standards for medical modeling and prototyping. It is an antimony-free, low-viscosity, stable liquid. (888) 564-9318 • www.huntsman.com/advancedmaterials
