A new line of hot-runner nozzles for small to medium-size parts and an entry-level single-zone temperature controller were recently introduced by Mastip Technology Ltd., a New Zealand maker of hot-runner equipment with a U.S. office in Menomonee Falls, Wis. Its new MX series nozzles can be used for parts weighing 15 to 900 g. The nozzles are designed to operate at lower molding temperatures and pressures compared with Mastip’s MT series and also has a thinner profile that allows for closer cavity spacing. The MX series comes in lengths of 45 to 175 mm with single- and multi-hole torpedo tip, open tip, or extended tip with open nut, bush nut, or sprue nut configuration. Tips, heaters, and thermocouples can be serviced from the front. Mastip also introduced the MSZ-01 single-zone temperature controller. It provides soft start, display of set and actual temperatures, and audible and visible alarms. The system can maintain operations if there is a thermocouple failure.
