A new articulating-arm spray-coating robot was demonstrated at NPE last month by Fanuc Robotics America, Inc., Rochester Hills, Mich. Supported by the new R-J3iC controller, the six-axis P-250iA/15 robot boasts the ability to flip over itself, providing a very large work envelope. Its slim arm and wrist assembly and multiple hose-routing options add flexibility and allow the robot access to unusually shaped or hard-to-reach areas of parts, even in tight workspaces. It has horizontal reach of 2800 mm, payload capacity of 15 kg, and operating speeds to 1500 mm/sec. Advanced motion software is said to provide constant speeds, which improve the uniformity and appearance of the paint finish. Closed-loop Accuflow software automatically controls fluid flow rate. Features include optional Roboguide PaintPro painting software, Accuchop closed-loop fluid control for FRP spray-up, and Collision Guide software.
