A new epoxy-acrylate stereolithography (SL) photopolymer for building transparent models and prototypes boasts high-strength and glass-like clarity. Available from RenShape Solutions Group of Huntsman Advanced Materials, East Lansing, Mich., RenShape SL 7570 has low viscosity. Its flexural modulus is 360,000 to 405,000 psi; flexural strength is around 14,000 psi; tensile strength is about 8650 psi; and notched Izod impact strength is 0.45 to 0.49 ft-lb/in. The material also boasts the highest HDT (140 F) available for a transparent SL material.
