Three new methacrylate structural adhesives offer medium to long working times for large composite assemblies like boats, trucks, buses, wind-turbine blades, bridges, decks, and architectural ornamentation. These two-part systems have 1:1 mix ratios and reportedly provide tough, durable bonds with little or no surface preparation. They cure at room temperature and function well at -40 to +180 F. These products from Plexus, Danvers, Mass., are 100%-reactive, non-sagging gels that join ABS and other styrenics, PVC, acrylics, polyester and vinyl ester FRP composites and gel coats, and certain metals. Plexus MA530, MA560-1, and MA590 have working times from 30 to 105 min respectively and fill gaps from 0.7 to 1 in. Fixture times range from 90 to 240 min at 74 F. (800) 851-6692 • www.itwplexus.com
